Call Forwarding Instructions

There are many methods to call forward your business lines to another number. Typically it is a function of your phone service provider [or Local Exchange Carrier (LEC)] and the procedures are dependant on the type of switch your provider uses, and how it is configured. Other methods might not involve the LEC's forwarding feature at all - your business phone system may simply pick up a second line and 'patch' the caller to a different line/number. Step one would be to establish how your business plans to / or currently does forward the business line. MAXIMUM suggests you call your LEC, advise them of your primary business phone number, and inquire on two things.

  1. Your LEC currently provides your business with the Call Forwarding service.

  2. If so, request instructions on how to forward your main business line. If not, call your business phone system's vendor to establish how calls are forwarded. *

* Note: Typically, call forwarding handles one or two 'simultaneous' calls to your main business line. If another call comes in while the first line is in use, your caller may hear a busy signal. This is not a busy signal coming from MAXIMUM but from your LEC. Check with your LEC or Business Phone System provider, as to how many 'simultaneous' calls they support when your main business line has call forwarding enabled, and if necessary/possible, have that number increased.
